Why BCPA is Important: - The lack of a clear definition of contraception has allowed the debate around abortion to extend to safe, effective methods of birth control
- Family Planning and access to the wide-range of contraceptive methods is basic health care
- Increased and enhanced use of birth control reduces the rate of unintended pregnancies and the need for abortion
- Ninety-eight percent of sexually active women in the U.S. use contraception at some point during their lifetimes
- Birth control pills act to prevent pregnancy, and work before pregnancy occurs
- In light of the resounding defeat of Amendment 48, which could have made certain forms of contraceptives illegal, it is clear that the people of Colorado have an interest in protecting birth control and removing it from the abortion debate
- During tough economic times we believe it is vitally important to give women and men access to the information and services needed help them plan the timing and growth of their families
