Online Voter Registration heads to Committee

It seems like a no-brainer, but believe it or not, this bill narrowly failed last year. After County Clerk's offices were swarmed with tens of thousands of new voter registration forms to deal with in this past election, we think we've got a better shot this time. New Era Colorado is bringing the online voter registration bill back to the Colorado Legislature and it's being championed by newly elected State Representative Joe Miklosi.

The Online Voter Registration Bill, HB09-1160, makes its first stop in the House State Affairs Committee this Thursday!

Click here to send a quick note to the Committee Members asking them to support New Era's Online Voter Registration bill! We think it's going to be a close vote, so take 2 minutes and help us get it passed!

This bill is long overdue and will make a significant impact on voter registration in the future! It will allow a new generation to become more politically involved as well as making it easier for people all over Colorado to voice their opinions.

    Amen, Sister!
  • Better ways to spend money

I think the money to implement this would be better spent on issuing free photo ids for voting. This would eliminate the poll tax issue associated with voting and increase our ability to verify identity and prevent voter fraud.
  • Software not ready

From what I understand, the software system to track these registrations is not yet up and running, so this bill is premature in that regard.
  • Allow a new generation?

What's keeping them from registering now? Do they not know how to write on paper? Come on - if they want to become politically involved or not - online registration will not change that. I mean - how are these people going to get to the polls? They have actually go, not just log on.
